The act of decaffeinating is removing caffeine from coffee beans, mate, cocoa, tea leaves and other caffeine-containing materials. Decaf coffee uses various methods like the process usually performed on unroasted beans and then steaming of the beans. Afterwards they are rinsed in solvent containing as much of the chemical composition of coffee as possible without containing the caffeine in a soluble form.
The repetition of process anywhere from 8 to 12 times continue, until it meets the international standard of having removed 97% of the caffeine in the beans. Some follow the rules of the EU means having the beans 99.9% caffeine free. This method follows Organic as well as Regular Decaf Natural CO2 Process. |
