French Press is a simple filter less coffee brewing device invented in France and known by many names like press pot, coffee press, coffee plunger, cafeterias, percolator and more.
In spite of its origination in France, its use is minimum in that country. A French press has a narrow cylindrical jug usually made of glass or clear plastic which is equipped with a lid or a "plunger" of metal or plastic, fitting tightly in the cylinder and which has a fine wire or nylon mesh acting as a filter. Coffee is brewed by adding coffee to water by leaving to brew for a few minutes, and then depressing plunger to trap the coffee wastes or grinds at the bottom of the jug.
French Press uses unique method to brew coffee and the coffee brewed is a strong one by this way. Since the coffee grounds remain in direct contact with the boiling water, the flavors of coffee are trapped to the fullest in a traditional method giving it a beautiful, exotic flavor with essential oils inside.
Coffee prepared in a French pressed coffee is naturally stronger and thicker than any other coffee and is to be served immediately to avoid bitter taste. A French Press typically is considered expired after 8 minutes. |
